We were asked to analyze a blog post or news item to help us prepare Proximity's fall survey. Below is my summary of a New York Times article discussing iphone iPhone users who are now capable of watching tv over the 3g network using the SinglePlayer Mobile application. I suggest we include questions on the fall survey designed to determine whether TU students are using such services.

What SinglePlayer provides

The SinglePlayer app will provide a 3g network when accessed with a slingbox for all AT&T users. The slingbox, when attached to a home TV turner or digital voice recorder, will allow a person to watch and control their favorite TV shows from the comfortable settings of their personal computers or mobile devices.

At first opposed to the idea due to the amount of bandwith the app needed to transmit, AT&T has now reconsidered the concern and ensures the app will not be problematic.

Why is this Significant?

The singleplayer app will allow individuals to watch TV from their very own mobile devices. The new 3g network is not only illustrating new trends in mobile telecommunications, but it is (delete) also making technology seem limitless in our world today.

Questions to ask TU mobile users

  • With the 3g network provided by AT&T, will individuals change service plans?
  • Is watching TV from your phone(s) (delete) something that all individuals will find necessary to have?
  • Do you regularly find yourself relying on your mobile phone for technology uses?
